Vassilis Zakopoulos

Vassilis Zakopoulos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre Studies at the School of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He studied Educational Sciences and specialized in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education, earning a Master of Arts (MA) and a Ph.D. from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. He has also worked in primary education (six years as a school principal), at ASPETE 2003–2006 as a Research Associate, at the Hellenic Open University (HOU) in 2020–2021 as a Professor-Advisor for the ETA50 program, and from 2021 to 2024 for the ETA60 program “ICT in Education: online learning and e-learning,” and from 2025 to the present in ETA62 “Digital Media in Education and Communication,” serving as Coordinator during the winter semester. 

His research interests, as well as the courses he teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels, include, among others, Theatre and cutting-edge digital technologies in education, Research Methodology in Theatre Studies, and Introduction to the Methodology of Theatre Research.

He is also the author of the books “Digital Technologies for Theatre/Drama in Education, The Supportive Role of Digital Media in Research and Practice” and “Research Methodology in the Theatre and Social Sciences” and has participated with presentations and published articles at numerous Greek and international scientific conferences and in academic journals.
