Panagiotis Douros is a graduate of the Department of History and Archaeology at the Faculty of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He pursued postgraduate studies with a scholarship from the Propontis Foundation at the University of Sheffield (Management School), United Kingdom, where he obtained an MA in Arts & Heritage Management. He subsequently completed his PhD at the Department of Architecture, Democritus University of Thrace, with a focus on geopolitics of culture and its socio-cultural impacts. He is currently employed at the University of West Attica as Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP) in the Department of Social Work, with a specialization in “Cultural Management and Social Impact.” He is also registered as an instructor and teaches at the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (EKDDA).
He has taught at the Democritus University of Thrace, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and the Hellenic Open University, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in the fields of cultural management and economics, the cultural impact on various aspects of society, and the development of cultural strategy.
He is a founding and active member of the Centre for Research on Social and Humanitarian Crises (KEKAK) within the Department of Social Work. From 2005 to 2020, he worked at the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, while in 2015–2016 he served as Director of the Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
He is the author of the following books/monographs:
A. Cultural Management and Social Activation: Actions and Initiatives of Social and Cultural Prescribing in Greece (2025)
B. Cultural Management of Heritage and Contemporary Creation and Sustainable Economic Development (2022), co-authored with P. Kaldis.
He has published articles in reputable national and international academic journals and actively participates in conferences focusing on culture and its social dimensions.
